There are customer identification procedures we need to follow in order to meet AUSTRAC requirements.
What information do I need to supply to Zeller to sign up?
An individual needs to be 18 years and above to open an account with us.
All entities must have an active Australian Business Number (ABN) or Australian Company Number (ACN), unless they’re an Individual or Sole Trader without an ABN.
We will require the ID information of the individual creating a Zeller account on behalf of your business and if your entity type is a company, trust, partnership or association, we will also require the ID documents from at least one Beneficial Owner of your business as well.
The ID documents you will be asked to provide are any TWO of the following:
- Current Passport
- Current Australia State/Territory Driver Licence
- Current Medicare Card
If you do not have the identity documents listed above, one of our team members will reach out to you for other ways to verify your identity after you’ve completed the signup.
Why does Zeller need to verify identities?
As per the AUSTRAC requirements listed on their website, Zeller is required to apply customer identification procedures to all of our customers.
This means that Zeller must check a customer’s identity by collecting and verifying information before providing any services to them, and we are required to identify both individual customers (people) and non-individual customers (such as companies, associations, or trusts).
