How do I enable a percentage surcharge?

Percentage surcharging can be enabled from your Zeller Dashboard or Zeller Terminal.

Zeller enables you to set a percentage surcharge to increase the total transaction amount paid by your customers.

To set a percentage surcharge on your Zeller Dashboard:

  1. Select Payments and then Sites.
  2. Select the site you would like to manage.
  3. Select the Payments tab at the top of the screen.
  4. Toggle on Surcharge a percentage
  5. Enter in the percentage you wish to charge.
  6. Click Save to confirm your changes.

To set a percentage surcharge on your Zeller Terminal:

  1. Select Settings from the navigation menu.
  2. Tap on Site Settings.
  3. Tap on Payments
  4. Toggle on Surcharge a percentage
  5. Enter in the percentage you wish to charge.

Please note: In line with surcharging regulations set by the Reserve Bank of Australia, you will not be able to specify a surcharge amount greater than your cost of card acceptance.

With surcharging enabled, your Zeller Terminal will automatically apply a surcharge to the transaction total you enter, after your customer's card is presented, but prior to any card verification and transaction authorisation steps, such as PIN entry or signature.

The total transaction amount will be displayed on the payment screen and receipt if requested by your customer.
