How do chargebacks affect my settlement?

You are net settled for the payments you accept through Zeller.

Net settlement refers to the total amount of your accepted payments, less fees, refunds, and chargebacks. There are three ways that a chargeback can affect your final settlement.

  1. If a chargeback or transaction dispute is lodged relating to a payment you accepted our systems will settle all undisputed transactions, and temporarily hold the disputed amount on your behalf until a final result has been decided by the banks involved in the transaction. We will contact you for further information if necessary.

For example, if you accepted $10,000 of payments, and a transaction valued at $100 was disputed, we will deduct this amount from your net settlement.
  2. If the cardholder wins a chargeback against you our systems will settle all undisputed transactions, and return the disputed amount to the cardholder who won the chargeback. There is no further action required on your behalf.

For example, if you accepted $10,000 of payments and (1) no other chargebacks or (2) refunds were raised, we will not settle the retained amount that related to the cardholder-won chargeback to you.
  3. If the cardholder loses a chargeback against you our systems will settle all undisputed transactions, and send the temporarily held amount in your next settlement.

For example, if you accepted $10,000 of payments and no other (1) chargebacks or (2) refunds were raised, and a (3) transaction valued at $100 that was disputed resulted in a cardholder loss, we will include this amount in your net settlement.
